ABSTRACT |
Bile duct hamartoma (also known as von Meyenburg complex) are rare benign malformations that consist of multiple, well-circumscribed foci (0.1-1.0 cm diameter) of dilated bile ductules surrounded by fibrous stroma in the liver and are usually diagnosed at the time of autopsy or liver needle biopsy as an incidental finding. The MRI, CT, and sonographic appearances of these malformations have been described previously. Their clinical significance is that they may be misdiagnosed as a malignant liver tumor. We herewith report a case of bile duct hamartoma in a 59-yr-old woman in whom single low attenuation nodule in the liver was found incidentally on an abdominal CT, and who received a left lobectomy under the impression of a cholangiocarcinoma. |
