ABSTRACT
In the intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tract, precursor lesions of malignancy are defined as follows; biliary intraepithelial neoplasia (BilIN), intraductal papillary neoplasm, mucinous cystic neoplasm, and adenoma. BilIN is believed to be the noninvasive premalignant lesion of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and is classified with BilIN-1, BilIN-2, BilIN-3 according to the grade of atypia of biliary intraepithelial cell and structure. When there is a focal dilatation of intrahepatic biliary duct without definite cause on image, BilIN can be considered.
