ABSTRACT
Injury to the extrahepatic biliary tree following nonpenetrating blunt trauma is rare. Isolated stricture of common bile duct is even more uncommon. If untreated, it can lead to recurrent cholangitis and secondary biliary cirrhosis, and death. Careful history & physical examination is important because differential diagnosis of malignant stricture is difficult in spite of full radiological evaluation. We reported the case of a 28-year-old womon with obstructive jaundice. 1 month before admission she had blunt abdominal trauma by car accidnet. On admmission, ERCP showed abrupt concentric narrowing at the distal common bile duct and dilatation of proximal portion. She was successfully treated with endoscopic balloon dilatation and insertion of plastic stent. Clinical and laboratory data were improved, follow up ERCP and abdominal CT showed no restricture.
